Cleaning Green Is Easier Than You Think
Cleaning With Vinegar
Vinegar is definately one of natures little wonders and although many of us only think about vinager as something to put on our salads and chips, for centuries people have known that vinegar was far more than just food. Some reports suggest that vinegar was used to clean and preserve food as long ago as during Babylonian times. Vinegar also has a somewhat dubious history in that during the Black Plague in Europe, thieves would douse themselves in vinager before robbing the dead. The vinegar protested them against germs.
Ladies during the seventeeth centry used vinegar to deoderize themselves. Remember, in those days, bathing wasn’t as common as it is today. The medicinal value of vinegar has been known for years. During the first world war, it was used to disinfect wounds and is still used today to treat rashes, bites and minor ailments.
But lets get down to the important stuff – CLEANING WITH VINEGAR.
Here are a few of our great little tips to get your started!
Cleaning your washing machine:- A very easy way to clean out soap scum and disinfect your washing machine washer is to pour two cups of white distilled vinegar into your machine and run a full wash – without any clothes or detergent. This will do the trick nicely.
Getting the yellow out of clothing:- To get that yellow shade out of your whites, let your garment soak overnight in a solution of 12 parts warm water to one part white distilled vinegar. Then wash them as usual the next day!
Bloodstain removal:- This has to be the biggest problem out there! Treat the stains on your clothing as soon as you can and bloodstains are much easier to remove if the blood doesn’t dry and is virtually impossible to get rid of after 24 hours. If you are able to get to the stain before it sets, then pour white distilled vinegar on the spot. Let it soak for about ten minutes and then blot well with a cloth or towel. Repeat if you think you need to and then wash immediately.
Chewing Gum:- You know the problem, now the solution is easy. Just saturate the area that has the chewing gum stuck to it with distilled white vinegar. If you heat up the vinegar first, then it will work the chewing gum off much faster. Now just rub it off!
